The Sooty Albatross (Phoebetria fusca) also breeds on Tristan da Cunha and Gough and occasionally follows our ship closely.
White-chinned Petrels (Procellaria aequinoctialis) breed amongst others on South Georgia. It's an abundant species in the Southern Oceans, but a frequent victim of longline fishing.

A juvenile Atlantic Yellow-nosed Albatross (Thalassarche chlororhynchos). The species breeds only on the Tristan da Cunha archipelago and Gough, but has a wide distribution that ranges all over the Southern Ocean.

A Wandering or Tristan Albatross (Diomedea exulans or D. dabbenena). The species are nearly impossible to differentiate.

Grey Petrel (Procellaria cinerea).

Subantarctic Skuas (Stercorarius antarcticus) are opportunists, that will follow the ship in search for food. But we also witnessed them a couple of times attacking Great Shearwaters.
Various species of Subantarctic Skuas are distinguished; this is the darker species.

Spectacled petrels (Procellaria conspicillata) near Tristan da Cunha. The world population is about 4000 pairs and they breed only on the Tristan da Cunha islands.
The Broad-billed Prion (Pachyptila vittata) is one of the bigger prions.
| Spectacled petrels are also victims of longline fishing techniques. |
