An Pierlé & White Velvet - Hinterland in De Melkweg, Amsterdam, 7 December 2010

It's been a couple of years since the Belgium band led by An Pierlé and her White Velvets (with Koen Gisen on guitar, Klaas Delvaux on bass and Peter de Bosschere on drums) performed in The Netherlands. Tonight was the night: the first Dutch concert took place in the Amsterdam venue 'De Melkweg'. Once again their sound has changed as can be heard on their latest CD Hinterland, and it takes a while to get used to it. But the live renderings of their new songs sound as good as the studio versions on the CD. Peter's percussion really sounds very good live. In the meantime An has grown older -and become mother- but it still up for (sick) jokes in between the songs. Besides the new songs the band played some old tunes, including the soundtrack of the movie Eldorado, which sounded excellend played live. It is good to see this band back on stage. On this page a visual impression of their performance.
