Showcase: Reni Laine, Martin Gabriel & Ralph (Melkweg, 18 July 2007)
In the Amsterdam venue the Melkweg three new artists presented their songs in a so-called showcase. I am presenting sixteen photographs of these artists:
Martin Gabriel is a Swedish singer/songwriter who chiefly plays ballads and Americana. He perfomed solo, having a strong voice and picking his acoustic guitar fluently using beautiful chords.
New-York singer and piano player Reni Laine toured in the Netherlands last March, playing with a number of dutch singers and accompanied by various musicians and her producer, David Patillo. Tonight she brough both familiar songs from her CD 'American Baby' (from the CD under the same name, now played on guitar instead of her piano and dedicated to... Paris Hilton) but also a bunch of new songs that make one curious to find out what the new CD will sound like that she is working on.
Accompanied by Reni and David, Ralph van Manen was the last act. He sang a couple of titles from his upcoming album, scheduled for fall this year. The closing song was a duet he sang with Reni, a song which you can listen to on Reni's website.
