Music & concert photography

Mondo Leone Deluxe (Vredenburg Utrecht) 9 december 2006

The Vredenburg Theatre in Utrecht had been selected by Leon Giesen to fulfill the promise he had made to all his fans: as soon as enough fans had registred themselves as a member-fan, Leon would organise a special concert. His songs (some instrumentals) were supported by on-screen animations, like he did at the Parade (where I had photographed him for the first time). The songs were also supported by a bass player, a poet, an illustator, a cartoon designer, fruit farmer... I'd say the show was as varied as Leon himself.

With contributions by: Herbie Flowers, René van Barneveld, Leon Klaasse, Jac Bico, Simon Gitsels, Ingmar Heyzte, Joost Swarte, Mathilde Santing, Isabelle & Daniel Latin and Jean-Marc van Tol.

Besides singing and playing Leon tells a lot of stories too.

Mathilde Santing singing live the song she also recorded on Leon's album.

According to Leon, Herbie Flowers is the world's most 'unknown known bass player' and the man who came up with the opening riff on Walk On The Wild Side.

A present for all fans: a small bag with a print of cartoon duo 'Fokke & Sukke', drawn by Jean-Marc van Tol (who is one of the guests)

One of the items inside the bag is a paper box designed by Joost Swarte in which one can store the collection of Leon beards, a different one for every day.

Ingmar Heyzte is a poet from the city who reads one of his poems.

Isabelle and Daniel Latin are the couple who perform in one of the movies on Leon's DVD.
